A Closer Look
Over the course of millions of years plants have developed a host of anti-inflammatory compounds to protect themselves from environmental assaults. When we consume plants (vegetables/fruits/nuts) we in turn are protected from inflammatory damage. I believe that poor diet is the primary source and cause of inflammation in the body: thus the apt aphorism: “Food is our best medicine”. Cancer is a good example of what can happen with uncontrolled inflammation. Chronic inflammation and its consequent free radical damage to DNA will often lead to cancer. Here’s how this plays out with my Juice for Life drink.
Anti-cancer food compounds that exist in my Juice for Life mix protect and repair DNA, help our immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells, slow and reverse unregulated growth and metastasis including the proliferation of blood vessels that cancer cells demand, and create a more alkaline environment to prevent cancer growth.
A few of the anti-cancer food compounds contained in this drink include antioxidant vitamins and minerals, enzymes, flavanols and flavonols (which give fruits and vegetables their colors), querecetin, lignans, polyphenolic compounds such as ellagic acid, indoles, aromatase inhibitors, cox 2 inhibitors and epidermal growth factor (EGFR) inhibitors including vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors (VEGF) and human epidermal receptor inhibitors. While some of these compounds may sound rather foreign, the pharmaceutical companies know them well and have created synthetic analogues for their fight against cancer.
I suggest hemp oil as part of an anti-cancer (anti-inflammatory) defense because it is an essential fatty acid that is more balanced than other supplemental oils, with healthy omega 3, 6 and 9. It has multiple anti-cancer properties and is a rich source of cannabidiol, a powerful phytonutrient that fights against cancer. Cannabidiol has no psychoactive properties. Studies to date are promising for cannabidiol’s potential to inhibit breast, brain, lung, skin, prostate and pancreatic cancers.
In conclusion you don’t need to be a biochemist to understand the merits of consuming healthy food and beverages; just listen to your body. How do you feel after consuming healthy food, 20 minutes later, two hours later or one day later? If you swallow inflammatory foods how do you feel in the aftermath?
I hope you have enjoyed this month’s news letter. Comments and questions are always welcome.
